I designed this poster as my final project for my Adobe Illustrator class at UCSD. Stahschlagfest is a fictitious music festival set at Steel Stacks in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania featuring 40 industrial bands. Because the old Bethlehem Steel blast furnaces co-star in concerts held there, I wanted to convey a strong sense of place. The main image started out as two of my own photographs which I merged in Photoshop. I used Illustrator to vectorize the result and to set the poster’s color palette. I drew the musical staffs and made symbols for the notes, setting their colors to look like smoke coming from the stacks.
